There are still many areas of France that are not covered by Broadband ADSL.  The reason for this is that France has approximately twice the land mass of the UK and therefore there is a substantial amount of the population in areas that are more than the required distance from their local exchange.  We are often asked "When will Broadband be available to us?"   This is a very difficult question to answer as it depends on whether there are enough people in your local area to make it worthwhile for France Telecom to put in the required equipment.  Quite often the answer is in the negative, though alternative technologies are available in some areas like Wi-Max. Your local Mairie will normally have some one in the commune who is the liason with France Telecom.  The other alternative is Satellite, although the monthly cost is reasonable the initial installation is quite expensive and needs some technical expertise.
